Here are ten amazing hair and skin beauty ideas for Olive Oil that can help transform dry cracked cold weather skin to supple soft and glowing...Italian Style!

Olives are delicious, and organic olive oil tastes even more fabulous on a salad. It is also one of easiest and healthiest changes to make pasta come to life. Olive oil comes from the Mediterranean region, but has made its way around the world to many other countries who have discovered the taste and health benefits of the juicy little olive.

Olive oil has been long used in soaps making it mild and very easy and moisturizing on all skin types. Here are some ways to use this great oil in your beauty regimen. When possible, go organic...the olive absorbs a lot of water, and the less pesticides on your skin, the better.

If you had an Italian grandmother, here are the olive oil recipes she would pass down to you for amazing skin, hair and nails. (Before you begin, please avoid using any of these products if you have even the slightest allergies. It is your responsibility to test products on small areas of skin just in case an allergy exists.)

  1. Nails - Soak your nails in a cup of olive oil for 15-20 minutes a week for silky soft cuticles and strong nails. (A great time to meditate, visualize, and take some long deep breaths)
  2. Hands - For softer skin on your hands, apply olive oil all over and put on cotton gloves. If possible, sleep in this overnight and wash with soft soap in the morning. You won't be able to stop touching your own hands all day.
  3. Night Cream - combine 1/2 cup olive oil, 1/4 cup vinegar and 1/4 cup water. Use once a week to help to lighten your any discoloration on your skin, kill bacteria and makes your skin smooth and clear.
  4. Lips - Apply to your chapped lips as needed. Yum.
  5. Hair - for amazingly shiny hair, and to help moisturize dry, flaky scalp, apply olive oil all over. Massage it into your scalp for 3-4 minutes. Wear a shower cap for at least 20-25 minutes and shampoo the oil out. This is a great weekly deep conditioning.
  6. Instant Facial - Mix olive oil with a teaspoon of sugar - scrub face gently and wash of with warm water or using a warm clean washcloth. Your face will glow with olive oil goodness.
  7. Feet - Use as a massage oil on your feet after a long day. This is a great time to get out those pumice stones and scrub away those tough spots.
  8. Bath time - For silky skin before that special evening - add a few drops of olive oil and your favorite essential oil to your pre-date bath.
