It’s been fun to watch the green movement evolve over the past few months. Green has seemingly touched every part of life these days. Recently, Plenty magazine, which is dedicated to green, reviewed several fun green products.
From Colorful Markers to Natural Material Guitars
While most of the green or eco-friendly products to date have been from the construction, paper, aluminum or metal fields, there are some amazing products hitting the shelves as we read. A sampling is listed below.
How many markers are used per year in offices around the country? AusPen Markers are offering markers that are 100% recyclable. The markers are refillable, nontoxic and made from recycled materials.
Want to keep water usage to a minimum? When its time to take a shower - take the digital shower timer into the shower too. Set the timer and when it goes off, turn off the water. Check it out at Ripple Products.
A new blow dryer, Barbar Eco-8-000, uses half of the energy that most blow dryers use. Plus it emits less electromagnetic radiation.
Musical instrument manufacturers have taken on the green initiative including three guitar makers. New materials for guitars include bamboo, FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) cherry, birch, old-growth hardwoods like mahogany and rosewood. One manufacturer is using Rainforest Alliance certified wood.
Hip Fashions to Fashionable Tans
New green clothing is anything but green in color. Organic and recycled fabrics are using low-impact dyes to bring some of the brightest colors to green clothing lines. Tees, vests, dresses and shorts from several clothing producers including Toggery, Loyal, Patagonia, Pursuit of Harmony, and Loomstate are using eco-friendly fabrics and dyes. Victoria’s Secret is releasing tees, robes, pajamas and sleepwear made from organic cotton.
Looking for a quick tan but want to keep it green? Traditional bronzers use synthetic chemicals. There are several new mineral-based bronzers on the market that are safer for humans and on the environment.
Green is All Fun and Games
Plenty magazine also reported that Hasbro's decade- old game Monopoly will soon be releasing a revised game board using Wind and Solar Energy in place of the Water Works and Electric Company. Plus, the board itself will be made of recycled products and printed with vegetable-based inks.
All of these items will lead to more in the future. Transitioning to any new life style always has its downside. Products like these will take the stress out of making the world a greener place to live.
