This homemade bath product is a bit like bath salts, a bit like bath lotion and a bit like a body scrub. It smells divine and is great for your skin.

Ingredients

  • 660 grams Rock Salt
  • 80 grams Honey
  • 60 grams Aloe Vera gel
  • 50 grams Sweet Almond oil
  • 25 Grams Powdered Milk
  • 2 teaspoons Jojoba Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Lecithin (optional)
  • 8 drops Lime essential oil
  • 4 drops Bergamot essential oil
  • 2 drops Black Pepper essential oil
  • 1 large jar, or several smaller jars

Method

  1. Mix the oils (minus the essential oils) together in a metal bowl. You can use a plastic bowl for mixing, but be aware that once the essential oils are added, the scent will taint the plastic. This is just fine if the bowl is only to be used for this product, but if you plan to make a cake in it next, be warned that it will take on the flavour of the essential oils.
  2. Now blend in the milk powder. This will tend to lump together. It is very important that you mix this well to disperse all of the milk powder evenly. Using a fork or a whisk will help.
  3. Add the essential oils and lecithin now and blend thoroughly.
  4. Lastly, add the rock salt to the mixture. Blend it all together until it is even and consistent in texture.

This mush can be enjoyed simply by adding it to the running bath water. The salt will dissolve and relieve your aching and tired muscles. So will the black pepper. The rest of the essential oils will not add any therapeutic benefits, but the aroma is delicious none the less. The other oils in this blend will help to soften your skin. It also contains aloe vera gel, so if you have had a long day in the sun without sunscreen, this gel will help to relieve and cool the pain of sunburn.

For something a little different though, try rubbing the bath mush over your body before you get into the bath. The chunks of sea salt will help to slough off dead skin cells and will leave your body feeling refreshed and tingling. Now hop into the tub and let the salt dissolve, and the oils do their trick.

Bath mush also makes a unique present. If you have family members or friends who always seem to have everything, then this gift may just do the trick. Not only is this a natural and unique product, but hard to buy for people will know that it is also a gift made especially for them by you.

This product is all natural and while it contains honey, oils and salt that may be used as preservatives, there is no guarantee on its shelf life. This product also contains powdered milk which will dramatically shorten the shelf life. If you are making it up for gifts, then make it as close as possible to the giving date. If the product starts to smell strange or different, then discard it.
