It is easy to green clean glass with natural cleaners made from a few non-toxic household supplies. What’s more, green cleaning glass is a safer, healthier, less expensive alternative to most commercial, chemical-based products. Read on to how to green clean glass around your home.

Green Glass Cleaner

Add two or three tablespoons of vinegar to two cups water, and stir thoroughly. Pour the solution into a spray bottle. This is an inexpensive but effective glass cleaner around the house.

Window Cleaner

Pour a 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol, 1/4 cup vinegar, one tablespoon of lemon juice and 2 cups of water into a spray bottle. Screw on the cap and then shake the spray bottle vigorously to mix the ingredients thoroughly.

Note: If your window has a coating of any sort on it, do not use this glass cleaner on it because the lemon content will destroy the coating.

Glassware

Remove lipstick stains from your glassware, add one quarter cup of salt into two cups of vinegar, stir thoroughly and then soak the stained glass in this solution for twenty-four hours. Use a damp cloth to rub the stain away and then wash it in the dishwasher o by hand.

Mirrors

Clean your mirrors using plain water and lint-free cleaning cloths for a streak-free clean without having to use any chemicals. First, wipe your mirror using a dry lint free cleaning cloth. To clean more stubborn dirt, dampen the cloth with plain water and use this to clean the mirror. Rinse the cloth in the water once it gets dirty and then continue cleaning until the mirror is clean. Take care to wring out as much of the water as possible, because excess moisture will leave streaks. Dry the mirror with a dry, clean lint-free cloth.

Quick Tip: For an especially greasy or grimy mirror, substitute plain water for equal parts vinegar and water. Increase the amount of vinegar as needed.

Shower Doors

Scrub the mold and mildew from your shower doors using a combination of lemon juice and salt. Mix equal parts lemon juice and salt, and use this solution clean off the mold and mildew from the doors. Rinse off the shower door using warm water.

Hard Water Stains

Get rid of hard water stains around your home, by cleaning the glass using undiluted, white distilled vinegar and a cleaning sponge. You can also use the undiluted, white vinegar as an effective way to get rid of accumulated soap or scum build-up.

A Final Quick Tip

Keep in mind that the key to streak-free glass cleaning lies in the drying. A lint-free cloth and firm, overlapping strokes will always do the trick.
